He is happiest when he has a job to do or an activity that keeps both his body and mind busy. Whether it’s going for long hikes, playing fetch, or working on new training challenges, he's all in! Recently he has been doing mock mng’s with various male members around the shelter, Oswald has shown great resilience in his reactivity when meeting these new friends, he is responsive to clicker training and responds well to cues such as, search, away, off, okay (break command) and many more. In our best efforts to try to fit him in a home here in our surrounding demographic we have not found anyone that would be a good fit for Oswalds needs/breed specific needs. Oswald has also met a handful of dogs in our care to determine what Oswalds preferences will be. We have found him to be playful with most dogs but may escalate in some situations due to puppyish behaviors and lack of boundaries. Oswald responds well to human corrections as well as animal corrections.
Medical History: Neutered, heartworm negative, UTD on DA2Pv, Bordetella and Rabies. Currently Oswald is on Trazadone and Gabapentin for shelter stress.
Behaviors Observed: Barrier and Leash Reactivity (reactivity towards men), High Arousal.

NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
