Nova

We are looking for very special home for Nova. When her family of 7 years moved East, they left her behind, heart-broken. Her sadness was evident every day, and her self-esteem was low. For months, she seemed to be looking for them when we walked down the street, especially when she spotted a red car. I would see her perk up as if to say "have they come back for me?". It was very sad. She's a sensitive dog who feels deeply, and we want her to have a home with someone who will love her and stick by her through thick and thin. Nova is a very docile, gentle dog. She would probably do well in a home with cats and other small animals, because she has shown no prey drive toward them, just a mild friendly interest. Although she is fine with other dogs, too, dominant or rowdy dogs may hurt her by playing too hard or challenging her, so if other dogs are in the home, they should be calm and gentle like she is. 

Nova's blood work is all normal, but she has a bad case of hip dysplasia, and has had a few seizures (3 over a 5-month period). We think being on Tramadol might have brought on the seizures, so she is off that now, and not getting any pain meds, just some good hip and joint supplements. Even with her bad hips, she can go for walks of about one mile, end enjoys trotting around the yard. She is calm and has good house manners, although if food is left lying within reach, she will take the opportunity! She enjoys her food. She has not barked once in the 5 months I have had her. She really is a very sweet, sensitive, and lovable girl. A perfect situation for her may be a quiet home with perhaps an older, retired person or couple, who would welcome the companionship of a mature, sweet dog, and can commit to giving her the love she needs to thrive and come out of her shell.
