Dora is adorable and will be a great addition to your family! She is house-trained and sits to get what she wants without telling her to. She is sweet-natured, playful and moderately active; friendly to men, women and new dogs. She does not jump up on people. She walks on a leash easily and loves to ride in the car. She will lie in her bed in the house or crate with food puzzles filled with food or a chew toy. She plays outdoors with tug toy and ball. She is a smart and affectionate companion who is sensitive to emotions, which allows her to learn easily.
What I love most about her is that she will lie around with you or go everywhere with you! The funniest thing she does is sleep on her back, next to the wall, with her legs in the air. What a character~guaranteed to make you smile. She loves taking walks with her pack, but jogging and extensive hiking might be too much for her. Dora gets stressed during thunderstorms, but is learning to cope in a Thundershirt. She does better in the company of another dog who is not afraid of thunder. Dora is a wonderful dog and would be a good fit for individuals or a family with older children. She could be homed with another medium or large dog. Most of all, she needs a family who will reinforce her good behaviors with positive attention so she feels safe and secure. No cats.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
