Meet Chief – A Handsome German Shepherd in Search of His Forever Home
This handsome, well-mannered German Shepherd is named Chief, and he’s in urgent need of a loving home. Chief was sadly abandoned by his family when they moved away, and although they mentioned he was current on his vaccines as of September 2024, we don’t have his full medical records. We rescued him from a kill shelter, but unfortunately, our living situation is preventing us from keeping him. We live in a 2-bedroom apartment with a young child and two small dogs, and we’re unable to have more than two dogs in our home. Chief has been without a permanent home for around three months, and we are desperate to find him a safe, loving family before we have to take him to a shelter that could ultimately lead to him being put down.
About Chief:
Chief is currently located in San Antonio, TX and is ready to find his forever family.
Chief is a striking dog with a predominantly beige coat and beautiful black and white markings evenly placed throughout his fur. He’s a handsome, medium-to-large-sized dog with a regal, confident presence.
Chief is approximately 3 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. He’s the perfect size – not too big, but large enough to be an impressive and loyal companion.
Chief is a well-behaved, gentle giant. He’s incredibly calm, affectionate, and easy-going, making him a joy to have around. He’s not only great with our 3-year-old child but is also very social with other dogs and people of all ages. He’s patient, affectionate, and would fit well into almost any family dynamic. He’s a great family dog who would thrive in a home where he will have the room to run and play.
Chief has been well socialized and enjoys meeting new people and dogs. He’s a great companion who is always happy to be part of the action but is equally content to relax at home.
Chief is a house-trained dog, who listens well and is eager to please. Although he may need a little time to adjust to a new environment, his calm and sweet nature will make it easy to adjust.
Chief is an exceptional dog who deserves the best. He’s been through so much in the past few months, and we’re doing everything we can to find him a loving home. He’s not just a great dog — he’s an amazing companion who will give endless love and loyalty in return for the care and affection he receives. Chief has been without a permanent family for too long, and we don’t want to see him end up in a shelter where he could be at risk of being euthanized.
If you’re looking for a wonderful dog who will fit perfectly into your home, Chief is waiting for you. He’s ready to become a beloved member of your family, and we know he’ll bring nothing but joy and love into your life.
Please reach out if you think you could offer Chief the loving forever home he truly deserves.

NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog.
