Asher is a very smart, absolute sweetheart. He LOVES to play fetch outside, he has high agility and loves to show it off when play fetch! He enjoys to be taken out on long walks and walks well on a leash, he doesn't pull but does need to be corrected when other dogs come around. He does well being corrected on walks and being given positive reinforcements.
He settles nicely once he's inside the house and is a couch potato in the mornings. He loves to be cozy and sleep in. He is crate trained and does well his crate during the day. He has also done well left loose and alone in the home during the nighttime. He is a loyal and protective pup, he loves to be by his human's side. He would thrive in an environment where is he is the only pet. He has done well with his foster’s male resident dog outside of the home during walks but feels intimidated inside of the home which is why, he needs a patient family who is willing to continue training him and teaching him how to socialize with other pups.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
