Animal Interaction Observations
All interaction between animals should be supervised at all times.
Child Interaction Observations
All interaction between animals and children should be supervised at all times.
Young Zach is exactly that...Young with all that young energy going on. He Loves, Loves, Loves, his humans and especially the guys...he will sit by your side and lean into you while you pet and love on him giving him a ton of attention.. He does bond very quickly with his humans.
Zach is a handsome fellow and is just as intelligent as he is handsome which gets him in precarious situations at times being a little stubborn. This is why he is going to need a home with a very strong leader which Zach will respect as his alpha. Zach is also very strong and fit....requiring an owner who is able to hold onto the leash to keep Zach secure during his daily walks and outings. He is a wonderful pup who needs a loving firm owner who is committed to helping Zach excel to his loving potential. This is an exceptional dog for the exceptional and active home.
To help Zach with his reactivity he was a student in a 3 week board and train program and here is what his trainer had to say:
"Zach is doing good, he gets in place well and stays up there. He does well with name recognition. His reactivity on a leash is getting better. He is definitely overstimulated about higher distractions. As far as getting along with other dogs currently it needs management. He is not the type of dog that will get along with all dogs. Zach would do best with a female friend…..over a male. Unless you are an experienced GSD handler he needs to be the only dog. Zach is NOT dog aggressive but does get overly excited…"
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
