Finn is a 1 1/2-2 year old and is about 75lbs. He is still a little underweight and need to put on about 10-15 lbs. When he is done filling out expect him to be 90-95 lbs. If you would like to be able to pet your dog without bending over Finn is your guy. He is quite tall and loves attention.
He is not an alpha, but he is not shy at all. We have had many visitors and he always runs up and greets them with the a 'pet me and I will be your friend' tail wag. We have never seen him jump up on anybody nor be aggressive in any way (except toward the horses.) We feel he would be good around children, but do not have any experience with that aspect yet. He probably would not be good around cats (unless that cat puts him in his place quickly!)
He is comfortable outside with Tzu and is starting to be comfortable inside. He appears to be house trained, but we do not leave him unattended inside and we do not use a crate so we are not sure if he crate trained. He does like to run off with unattended shoes and clothes but there has been minimal carnage so far and anti chew spray is effective. We have started some basic command training and he is picking it up pretty well. With that said he is very sensitive with harsh voice tones and cowers when he thinks he is in trouble. Overall, he has a well rounded temperament and is very lovable. If you meet him, you will love him! Also consider his buddy Tzu, they make a great pair. Read her bio also!!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
