Meet Wolf, Rio's best buddy. The two of them came from the same kill shelter but did not arrive there together. However, they have become quite best friends since coming to rescue. Wolf seems to be the more dominant of the two, towards dogs, but is much friendlier when meeting people. He is a leaner, too, and always happy to meet a new person who will give him a good rub. He is still very underweight, but is eating well and gaining weight every day, as you may be able to tell from his pics. When he does reach his full weight, he may be 85-90 lbs, another big boy. Wolf is crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash now, but other than what he has learned here so far seems to have had no training. He is very smart and people focused, so training should not be a problem as long as you gain his affection and respect. Sadly, he is HW+, but in on heartworm pretreatment, and will of course be treated by the rescue. As you can see, he is a gorgeous boy and gets better every day!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
