Introducing the new girl on the block , Coco . We call her Coke for her bubbly disposition. She has joined a pack of Mom , Dad, pre-teen sis , 5 yrd old brother ( all two legged ) :-) . No four-legged companions except her. We leave the food bowl out all the time and she does not gobble it up. She is very comfortable with people walking around her food . She is very quiet inside the house, except for the occasional resounding bark when neighbor's Jack Russell is spotted across the street. She knows sit, down and "go get the ball". If you tell her to get the ball , she will go to the end of the Earth, to find her dear ball and bring it to you. She loves to catch the ball mid-air. She sleeps outside the crate at night and does well . She crates well and enjoys car rides.
To keep the balance in the Universe, all these good qualities have a counterpart . She is a digger. She dug the first evening she was with us . I have not seen her dig after her first attempt at Shawshank Redemption . Not sure if it is because I am watching her now , or if she is getting used to the house or if it was just a boredom digging before she figured where all the toys and balls are. She does occasionally stand on hind legs and stand against you, if you take too long to throw the ball . We are correcting that gently.
Since I do not have other dogs and cats , I am using the other foster's feedback about how she does with them: She does well with all other dogs she has met including my little poodle Willie and big feisty male gsd Cruz. Upon first meeting them she did put her hair up on her back but that was it no growling or fighting. She is cat aggressive.
Currently, she is offering two health plans : Plan 1 where she stays fit by constantly fetching the ball . You just have to throw it. Plan 2 where she accompanies you for a jog . Hurry, get your applications in, before the offer expires!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog.
