Say hello to Ryder — the ultimate goodest-good boy, and quite possibly the most lovable German Shepherd you'll ever meet. At 3.5 years old, he's past the puppy phase and has arrived in his prime: gentle, playful, and deeply affectionate to the people he loves.
A true social butterfly. Ryder loves socializing - adults, kids, other dogs, cats. The moment he meets someone, he treats them like a long-lost friend. Ryder gets along with everyone and is wonderfully gentle across the board. Whether you're a busy family or a single owner, he'll fit right in and make everyone feel like his favorite person.
The world's best leaner. Ryder's love language is physical touch. He'll nudge his head under your arm, lean his whole body against you, and look up at you like you hung the moon. Fair warning: he will absolutely stage a pouty little tantrum if he doesn't get his cuddles. It's dramatic. It's adorable. You've been warned. Calm inside, a blast outside. Ryder has mastered the art of balance. Indoors, he's easygoing and relaxed — happy to lounge while you go about your day. But out in the playfield? He transforms into a joyful, zoomie-running, chase-loving goofball. A few solid walks a day keep him perfectly happy, making him a great fit for a wide range of lifestyles. Brilliantly well-mannered. Ryder is sharp as a tack and eager to please. He responds quickly to direction, listens when told no, and is fully crate trained — he actually runs himself into his crate at mealtimes and bedtime with zero prompting. He's also completely comfortable being handled, making grooming and vet visits a breeze.
Champion level crate training. Ryder is secure and settled when left on his own. No drama, no destruction — just a patient, good boy waiting for you to come back. He loves running into his crate himself when it's meal time or sleep time at night.
His story. Ryder's previous owners didn't give him the care he deserved — he came to us underweight and in need of some TLC. But he's already making up for lost time, enjoying three meals a day complete with scrambled eggs and a peanut butter dessert. Despite his past, he holds no grudges and greets life — and people — with an open heart. What he needs most is a calm, confident leader who will give him the stability and love he's always deserved. In return, he will repay you with unwavering loyalty, endless snuggles, and more kisses than you'll know what to do with.
If you're looking for a well-behaved, affectionate companion with a heart of gold — Ryder is your guy. He's not just looking for a home. He's looking for his person. Could that be you? See Ryder's full listing for details on how to meet and adopt Ryder.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
