Tzu is dog friendly. She knows sit, down, cage time, and come and is working on Look (look in your eyes) & Wait. She is very treat motivated. She’s not alpha. She just goes with the flow. She’s not a huge fan of car rides but will go along with it. She won’t walk up and greet you but she’s come a long way from going and hiding when guests come over. She will remain in a stranger's presence now and with a treat will be their friend. She’s a lovely leash walker and walks right by your side. She loves to play fetch. Balls are her favorite. She has about a dozen she plays with at my home. She’s still afraid of loud noises but with your reassurance she will remain calm. I am still getting her used to walking on leash down a street with cars passing. She’s afraid of cars. She does enjoy going on runs at Mary Moore Seawright Park. She’s very sweet and loving and when she has a person she feels secure with she is the most obedient silly shepherd. She would thrive in a home with a resident dog. She really looks to her doggie friends for the support to relax and allow her personality to show.
She cannot be left unattended during the day while you’re out of the home. She gets bored and will attempt to chew anything leather or wicker or eat the toilet paper in the trash. She’s easily corrected with a “no” which doesn’t have to be stern, just a simple No. At night she’s fine outside of kennel if she gets to lay by your bedside on the floor. While you’re relaxing watching TV or working from home she will lay right by you no problem. She can get a little anxious in the home if you are walking around cleaning but giving her a favorite toy to play with (redirection from anxiety) works perfectly. She would benefit from knowing the command “place” where she knows she can go to relax.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog.
