Sugar was rescued from death row at Town Lake Animal Shelter. She's a German Shepherd mix. She was on death row with her 3 puppies at the end of August. All of them scheduled to be euthanized. Even though Sugar isn't a pug, Pug Rescue of Austin couldn't let her or her puppies be put down just because there isn't enough space at Town Lake. We rescued the whole clan in early September and all are doing great! She has 2 females and one male puppy - Sweetie, Honey, and Cane.
Sugar is about a year old and still a puppy herself. She'll need a family who can keep up with her active and energetic spirit. She is house trained and is undergoing obedience training now, so soon she will be ready to join her new family. A rave from the photographer: "i met Sugar for the first time today when I went to get a few pictures of her for her profile. I fell in love immediately!!! She was an angel, really... she is active but gentle and so sweet. I was trying to get her pic and she crawled up into my lap and snuggled up to me and gave me a kiss. I told her she was going to be the perfect dog for someone - and she will be...in my opinion this is a once in a lifetime dog - if I didn't have 4 already she'd be coming home with me!"

NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
