Weak Points: LOVES food to a fault, requires a special feeding bowl, and most impatient and vocal when just about to be fed. Love people but usually barks first at unfamiliar people. Settles down after a cookie or a sniff. Working on socialization. Not a calm dog yet. Something like a bull in a china shop.
Words that best describe me: Loving, Energetic, Loyal Companion, Special, Sweet, Sometimes Stubborn, Talented, Fast Eater, Protector, Great Guard Dog
Comments: During the time we have cared for Shannon, we found her personality very endearing and rewarding. Shannon is easy to connect with because she is so in tune to what you want from her. She needs training but is an eager pupil. We adopted Shannon from AGSRD last September. Our previously adopted GSD is a female of similar age and has become very dog aggressive toward Shannon. Due to our other GSD’s aggressive nature, she is not adoptable. The decision to re-home Shannon did not come easily and not without advice from experts. We would love to keep her but it is not fair to keep Shannon in such a dangerous situation. Shannon deserves to be loved and she will give back that love ten fold. Shannon is a very special girl. It breaks our hearts to put her back up for adoption, but there are few options available. For the right parents, Shannon will be a rewarding addition to your family. Foster Parents

NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.

The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
