It's not every day you see a tail-less German Shepherd, so when you look at Rebel you have to look twice! This adorable boy is perfect in so many ways. I've been calling him a "starter" GSD. He is sweet, gets along with other dogs, gets along with cats (so far), walks nicely on a leash, rides nicely in the car, sleeps nicely in his crate, eats well, need I say more? The lack of a tail may seem like a flaw to some, but really it just makes him cuter. It's a perfect little fluffy stub, and we have no idea what happened to it. Rebel is a smaller-sized GSD- about 65 pounds, and has a huge head and big paws to go along with his smaller frame. Although he's still skinny from being on the street, he's starting to fill out already, and I foresee him adding about 10 pounds to his frame. He has perfect black and tan German Shepherd coloring, and a wonderful coat in very nice condition. It's apparent in his previous life no one ever really played with him or gave him toys, so for now he's learning what a ball and Frisbee are, as well as receiving some basic obedience training.

I can already tell he's a smart boy. It took him 2 minutes to learn how to walk up stairs for the first time, and only 2 tries to learn where the dog beds are he's allowed to sleep on in the house. His time out of the crate and loose in the house has been limited to give him time to learn the rules, but so far he's been well-behaved with no accidents or problems. Rebel has turned out to be an easy foster dog, and I think he's going to make some lucky family a fantastic pet. Please note, Rebel's time on the street has left him heartworm positive, so he will be treated for heartworms before going home to his forever family.

NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.

The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
