Hello, my name is Joseph and my foster mom and dad call me “Little Joe”. I am a really new resident of the AGSDR. I am heartworm negative and I have been recently neutered and am ready to find my forever home. I currently have two foster brothers that I just love to play with, Duke, who is a Great Pyranese/Boxer mix that rules the house and Jace, a black German Shepherd, who is a former rescue from AGSDR. I also have two kitties that I am very curious about, one pretty much puts me in my place and tells me when she doesn’t want to play with me, she just looks at me an ‘Meows’ really loud. I do get to chase her every once in a while though, when she decides she wants to run, I think I should run after her. The other, just doesn’t really doesn’t like any dogs, he’s been bitten by my foster brother Duke a couple of years ago, so he hides except at night when we are all sleeping. I do get to see him occasionally when he is in front of the gate that I sleep behind.
My foster mom and dad’s neighbor’s come over all the time with their grandkids and play in the swimming pool and I just love playing with the kids. I am a very big kisser and I just love everyone that I meet, well with the exception of a show that my foster mom watches. She watches ‘Days of our Lives’ and there is the guy on there called ‘EJ’ and there is just something about him, when I hear his voice or even see him on the television screen, I bark and bark at him until he is no longer on the screen. I am not sure what it is about him, but I just don’t like him.
I am only about 10 months old and am starting to learn my basic commands like sit, stay, and down. My foster mom is also working on crate training me, but I don’t like it at all because I am a very trusting boy, I have never eaten anything or chewed up anything that wasn’t given to me. I was shown the toy box my first day at my foster mom’s and just couldn’t believe the number of toys that she had for me to play with my foster brother’s with. We have ropes, stuffed, toys, balls, Frisbees, swimming toys, you name it and I bet she has it.
Well, that is all for now, if you want to meet me or want any more information on my, just let my foster mom know and she will definitely get in touch with you.
To my Forever Family, I am patiently waiting for you and I can’t wait to meet you. Little Joe
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
